5-6U Baseball (Tee-Ball)
Tee Ball represents the beginning of a journey for your child that will hopefully last many years. The memories and lessons learned from being a part of the T&C program will be carried by your child for a lifetime.
In Tee Ball, a child starts to learn how to play fair, understand the game and how to have fun in a team setting. Watching these children over the next 10 years at T&C will be one of the best experiences a parent can have. The Tee Ball league at Town & Country is a single division of 5 and 6 year olds where age qualification is determined on April 30th. The fall Tee Ball season will begin around September 1st with registration beginning in mid July. Updated information will be placed on the T&C baseball web site.
Each tee-ball team will be comprised of 11-12 players, both boys and girls. Players are placed on teams according to the following: requests, public school boundary, zip code and general grouping. Please note that while most requests are honored, some are not for logistic reasons (i.e. too many players on one team, no one has volunteered to coach, etc). In fall tee ball each team will play 8 regular season games with an end of season tournament afterwards. Games will be scheduled primarily Saturdays but there could be games weeknights as well. Makeup games will be played on day mutually agreed on by the team’s head coaches. Parents should count on 3 baseball activities a week during the season. 2 games and 1 practice or 1 game and 2 practices each week. Practice times and locations are at the discretion of the head coach.
Tee ball game rules are relatively simple, teams exchange sides when one team scores 5 runs or 3 outs are made. The game itself is one hour long. At T&C we do want to emphasize that players must play different positions during the season and coaches should teach players to make the “right” baseball play. Scores and standings will be kept and a league champion will be crowned following the end of season tournament. This will give the kids and parents a more exciting and more competitive season.
Lastly, T&C is always in need of head coaches in all divisions of baseball (tee ball included). If you really want to help our program and help your player, please volunteer to head coach. T&C will offer free training to all coaches. Coaching can be a lot of fun and quite rewarding
